Bethpage is a neighborhood located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Long Island, New York with a population of approximately 16,500 residents. Bethpage was named by the Quaker Thomas Powell after the Biblical town of Bethphage in the Holy Land. The town was a part of the Bethpage Purchase that took place in 1695. Present-day Bethpage has many amenities that the residents enjoy, including Bethpage State Park, which has five golf courses to choose from. One of the courses is the Black Course, which was the site of the US Open in 2002 and 2009. Bethpage also has an ice skating rink, giving the town several recreational activities to choose from throughout the year.

Bethpage is a part of the Bethpage Union Free School District, which contains 5 public schools. The three elementary schools are Kramer Lane Elementary, Charles Campagne Elementary, and Central Boulevard Elementary. The middle school is JFK Middle School (grades 6-8). The high school in the district is Bethpage High School (grades 9-12). The district has a state-of-the-art technology program in each school, ensuring that all students are given the best education possible. The district contaols over 3,000 students and over 280 teachers and administrators.
